The Purchasing Agent maintains sales forecasts, reviews inventory requests from sales personnel, resolves shipping discrepancies and freight issues, and performs accounts payable administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated self-initiative, sense of urgency, and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience with purchasing, logistics, or inventory management a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and general computer and internet applications.
  • Experience with demand planning software or AS/400 environments is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic and professional mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and complex environment.
  • Team player who thrives in collaborative settings and is comfortable working with colleagues at different levels.
  • Proficient in basic math.

  • Experience with purchasing, logistics, or inventory management a plus.
  • Experience with demand planning software or AS/400 environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Independently maintain sales forecasts for selected suppliers, based on supplier communication and sales trends.
  • Assist commercial leadership with maintaining sales forecasts for other suppliers.
  • Review requests to transfer inventory between islands, working with the requestors to update sales forecasts and identify potential overstocks.
  • Collaborate with commercial leadership, corporate purchasing, and the local operations department to minimize out-of-stocks while avoiding overstock and dead inventory.
  • Communicate shipping discrepancies and freight issues to suppliers or freight vendors, and ensure that claims are paid.
  • Process EDI supplier invoices, scan and file accounts payable documents, and assist accounting staff as needed.
  • Serve as backup for other functions, including scheduling and invoicing club store orders, setting up products, and maintaining pricing.
