About The Position

Binsky, a mechanical contractor delivering HVAC, plumbing, and process systems across Central New Jersey and Pennsylvania, is seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent for its large-project MCaP division. The role procures materials, equipment, and subcontracted services for projects, working with project managers, estimating, field operations, and vendors to support timely, cost-effective purchasing. The Purchasing Agent develops supplier relationships, negotiates pricing and contracts, manages buyout activities, and tracks procurement schedules to support project budgets and deadlines.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, vendor negotiations, or subcontractor buyouts within the mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or construction industry.
Experience sourcing and procuring mechanical construction materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
Demonstrated success managing supplier relationships and supporting project procurement requirements.
Strong knowledge of mechanical construction materials, equipment, and industry suppliers.
Understanding of procurement processes, purchasing best practices, and subcontract buyout procedures.
Familiarity with construction project schedules, budgets, and material lead times.
Strong contract and vendor negotiation skills.
Ability to develop and maintain productive supplier and subcontractor relationships.
Proficiency with ERP systems, purchasing software, and Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced construction environment.
Ability to perform physical activities including sitting, standing, walking, and using hands and fingers, and to lift or move up to 30 pounds.

Familiarity with KOJO or Sage Intacct.

Responsibilities

Purchase HVAC and plumbing equipment, pipe, valves, fittings, hangers, supports, and related materials for assigned projects.
Review drawings, specifications, equipment schedules, and material lists to confirm purchasing requirements, and clarify scope or product questions with project or technical staff.
Obtain and compare quotes, identify inclusions and exclusions, and recommend purchases based on price, availability, quality, and project requirements.
Negotiate pricing, delivery, freight, and payment terms within company guidelines; refer unusual terms or significant commitments to the Director of Procurement for review.
Build supplier relationships and work with project teams to resolve supply issues.
Coordinate approval of proposed substitutions before ordering.
Assist with assigned subcontract purchases, including scope comparisons and required documentation, in coordination with Project Management.
Prepare complete purchase orders with accurate scope, quantities, pricing, job numbers, cost codes, delivery information, and agreed terms.
Check supplier acknowledgments for accuracy.
Provide current purchasing information for project cost tracking, including committed amounts, deposits, and expected delivery or payment timing.
Identify savings opportunities without compromising project needs.
