About The Position

Peterson Dental Laboratory is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Purchasing Agent & Operations Coordinator to oversee purchasing, inventory control, vendor management, cost optimization, and various operational support functions throughout the organization. This is not a traditional purchasing role. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving problems, wears multiple hats, and takes ownership of getting things done. The ideal candidate understands that purchasing is both operational and strategic and is willing to jump in wherever needed to help the business succeed. This role works closely with Production, Accounting, and Leadership to ensure materials are available when needed, inventory remains accurate and efficient, costs are controlled, and operational needs are handled proactively.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in purchasing, inventory management, supply chain, operations, or procurement
  • Manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-intensive environment preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with ERP, inventory management, or purchasing systems
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and reporting
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management abilities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and changing demands

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels to support production demands
  • Distribute weekly issuance of materials to production departments
  • Process daily issuance of implant materials for case production
  • Conduct monthly cycle counts and annual physical inventory counts
  • Identify overstocked, understocked, and slow-moving inventory
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions
  • Develop and improve inventory tracking processes and controls
  • Source and purchase dental laboratory materials, supplies, and selected equipment
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, freight costs, and service agreements with vendors
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships
  • Identify alternative suppliers to improve cost, quality, and availability
  • Monitor vendor performance and hold suppliers accountable for service expectations
  • Ensure timely purchasing to prevent production interruptions
  • Analyze purchasing trends and material usage patterns
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, bulk purchasing, and process improvements
  • Track vendor pricing changes and negotiate increases when appropriate
  • Partner with Accounting and Operations to improve gross margins through material cost management
  • Assist in reducing excess and obsolete inventory
  • Support company initiatives focused on efficiency and profitability
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records
  • Generate inventory, purchasing, and cost analysis reports
  • Support monthly inventory reconciliations and financial reviews
  • Utilize ERP and inventory management systems to maintain data integrity
  • Assist with process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide administrative support to the Accounting department
  • Coordinate facility maintenance, repairs, and vendor service requests
  • Assist leadership with special projects and operational initiatives
  • Support various departments as business needs arise
  • Help identify and implement process improvements across the organization
