About The Position

The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for the daily management of the procurement and shipment of parts and supplies for all of CAPS operations. Under the direction of the Director of Engineering & Procurement, this role will be involved in many aspects of CAPS and CVRF operations, including managing warehouse operations, Shipping/Receiving, and inventory. The Purchasing Agent will also assist in resolving warranty or missing/damaged product claims, track Tero Marine orders, create new orders, manage PO tracking, vendor management, and coordinate shipping and freight arrangements. This role involves driving around Seattle to pick up parts and palletizing them for shipment.

Requirements

  • Direct experience in a purchasing, and shipping / receiving environment with direct responsibility for procurement of parts and supplies preferred.
  • Ability to represent the company in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
  • Highly organized with a positive "can do" attitude and able to work in a decentralized environment.
  • Solid communication skills with the ability and demeanor to establish relationships with internal and external customers.
  • High level of attention to detail and willingness to be a team-oriented problem solver.
  • Working knowledge and technical skills of MS Office Suite (specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook) is required.
  • Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Must be able and willing to board vessels, move around in small spaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Alaskan fisheries, specifically pollock, cod, crab.
  • Familiarity with commercial fishing vendors and service providers in the Seattle area.
  • Strong understanding of commercial fishing vessels and their equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Director of Engineering & Procurement, Port Engineer’s and Vessel Department Heads for the purchasing of parts and supplies needed for the commercial fishing vessels.
  • Issue and track purchase orders, review and fulfill requisitions.
  • Coordinate shipping of parts and supplies to Dutch harbor, AK and Seattle, WA in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate ordering and delivery of shipyard requisitions for each vessel while in shipyard.
  • Manage CAPS warehouse, including inventory management.
  • Monitor inventory of long lead time items and recurring purchases.
  • Develop and manage strategic relationships with key suppliers.
  • Help resolve systemic, reoccurring supplier issues.
  • Work on call hours during a fishing season.
  • Other duties as assigned.
