Requirements

• Basic Skills Requirement
• An earned Master’s or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard from an accredited college or university in the field of counseling, social work, psychology, educational psychology, education, or other related field (transcripts required)
• Hold a California Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC) with authorization in Child Welfare and Attendance (CWA)

Responsibilities

• Provide counseling, advocacy, and case management services, to students and families
• Analyze data to inform attendance, behavioral, social emotional, and/or academic supports and interventions
• Provide leadership in facilitating group processes with students, parents and community agencies
• Ensure protection of educational and due process rights of students including, but not limited to, students in foster care, students who are experiencing homelessness, pregnant and parenting teens, probation youth, camp returnees, students referred for expulsion, expelled students, and other students at-risk for school failure and dropout
• Provide child welfare and attendance supports, working with students participating in BSAP and families to address social/emotional, home, and community barriers and support students participating in BSAP with achieving their academic potential.
• Leverage a strengths-based, identity affirming approach to ensure that the educational goals and needs of students participating in BSAP within the assigned region/program/school are met.
