About The Position

The Pumping Unit Technician troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs pumping units and assists with pumping unit installations at wellsites. The position is 90% field-based in Dickinson, North Dakota, and involves hands-on work outdoors in heat, cold, wind, and snow. The technician operates commercial trucks and company equipment, completes inspections and job records, follows safety procedures, and participates in a 24-hour on-call rotation. The work is physically demanding and may require overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of how equipment works.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when needed.
• Ability to work in extreme heat and sub-zero cold.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Clean driving record.
• Reliable phone and ability to respond when called.
• Ability to work at heights, lift up to 40 pounds, and repeatedly push, pull, bend, climb, and work with tools.
• Ability to stand and work on feet for 8 or more hours and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

• CDL preferred.
• Oilfield, pumping unit, or field service experience preferred; the employer will train the right person.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair pumping units.
• Assist with pumping unit installations alongside crane operators and rig crews.
• Operate commercial trucks and company equipment safely.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Complete tickets, job reports, timesheets, and equipment records accurately.
• Report equipment issues and safety concerns immediately.
• Follow all safety procedures and participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSA).
• Be available for a 24-hour on-call rotation.
• Take on additional duties as assigned.
