About The Position

The Pulmonary Critical Care NP/PA will be responsible for the daily rounding, evaluation, management, and stabilization of complex post-operative cardiac surgery patients. This includes patients undergoing procedures such as CABG, valve replacements, complex aortic replacements, heart transplants, and those with durable mechanical support devices. The role involves creating admission notes, daily progress notes, and managing billing. Responsibilities also include interpreting pulmonary artery catheter data, managing chest tubes and temporary epicardial pacing, and managing mechanical support devices like VADs, ECMO, and IABPs. The service provides 24/7 coverage with a shift-based model, with shifts being 13 hours long and including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, rotated equally among staff. There are opportunities for teaching APP fellows and nursing staff.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited ACNP or PA program.
  • Nurse practitioners are required to have a master’s degree or doctorate in nursing practice.
  • Certification as an ACNP from a nationally recognized certifying body is required.
  • Physician Assistants with certification from the National Commission on Certification of PAs is required.
  • Post graduate ICU fellowship or experience in a CT-ICU
  • Interpersonal skills and critical thinking must be demonstrated.
  • BLS and ACLS required.
  • Will need to maintain mechanical support competencies.
  • NC licensure within 60 days of hire

Responsibilities
