About The Position
Lee Enterprises is seeking a growth-focused Publisher / Market President to lead its Sioux Falls, South Dakota market, which includes the Sioux Falls Argus, Watertown Public Opinion, and Aberdeen American News. Based in Sioux Falls, the role is responsible for the overall strategy and performance of local operations, including advertising sales, editorial direction, digital growth, community engagement, and financial results. The position calls for a proven leader with experience in traditional and digital media and a strong commitment to supporting local journalism. Lee Enterprises is a local news and information provider and subscription and advertising platform serving 114 markets across 25 states. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of leadership experience in publishing, media, or a related industry.
- Demonstrated success in print and digital media environments.
- Strong understanding of digital advertising platforms and revenue models.
- Proven ability to build and sustain meaningful community relationships.
- Deep appreciation for the role and impact of local journalism.
- Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic plans to grow revenue, audience, and market presence.
- Oversee local operations, including advertising, editorial, and digital platforms.
- Lead digital transformation initiatives and expand digital advertising revenue.
- Drive advertising sales performance and identify new revenue opportunities.
- Manage budgets, financial planning, and resource allocation to ensure profitability.
- Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, local businesses, and key stakeholders.
- Represent the publication in the community as a visible and engaged leader.
- Ensure editorial integrity and alignment with the company’s mission and values.
