About The Position

The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated, detailed-oriented individual to provide training and technical direction on all aspects of the long-term care facility survey process related to determining compliance with federal Medicare/Medicaid certification requirements and state licensure requirements for designated regional area. Ensures standardization throughout the training program. Participates in the development and or revision of training programs. Assists with developing and revising policies and procedures to ensure standardization, consistency, and efficiency of survey activities.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.
  • Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in nursing.
  • Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
  • Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
  • Requires the ability to travel in the performance of duties.
  • Requires physical, visual and auditory ability to carry out assigned duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of experience in a long-term care setting.
  • Successful completion of the Federal Surveyors Minimum Qualifications Test.
  • At least two (2) years of long‐term care survey experience.
  • Three (3) years experience in education of healthcare professionals.
  • Two (2) years of experience with State and Federal program requirements for long-term care facilities.
  • Two (2) years of experience planning, developing and conducting statewide surveys and/or provider educational programs.
  • Two (2) years of experience presenting ideas effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Two (2) years of experience in Microsoft Suite applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Smartsheets.

Responsibilities

  • Travels to develop and provide training and education for surveyors addressing the Resident Assessment Instrument and infection control as required by State and Federal Regulation.
  • Performs liaison work between the Program, Section and the Division’s technical staff.
  • Maintains current information and knowledge on diseases that occur in long-term care facilities.
  • Plans agenda, secures speakers, and coordinates training in the regional offices.
  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
