Public Safety Dispatchers provide customer service and use critical thinking when managing calls and requests from patients, visitors, and colleagues. They follow established policies and procedures to route calls using computer systems, directories, public address systems, paging, and building monitoring systems. Dispatchers coordinate security, medical, and other safety responses using radios, access control systems, cameras, panic buttons, alarm monitoring, life safety systems, and related tools. They prioritize incoming requests, dispatch appropriate Public Safety resources during security events, emergencies, or disasters, and document essential information. The role requires discretion, confidentiality, and the ability to remain calm and organized under stressful and rapidly changing conditions. Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during security events, emergencies, or disasters, may be required.
