Per Diem Public Safety Dispatcher

About The Position
The Town of Nantucket is seeking qualified candidates for a per diem Public Safety Dispatcher. Dispatchers protect the community by receiving emergency and non-emergency calls, coordinating responses from police, fire, and EMS personnel, and supporting first responders and residents. This is a non-union, as-needed position with a flexible schedule to cover shifts. The fixed hourly rate is $43.32 and is not subject to individual salary negotiation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick, sound decisions.
- Must be able to work days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- Obtain E911, APCO Telecommunicator, Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), and CPR/First Responder certifications within one year of hire.
Nice To Haves
- College experience preferred.
- Familiarity with computers, office equipment, and dispatch systems is helpful.
