About The Position

ChristianaCare is seeking a full-time Dispatcher to support the routing of calls requiring public safety, fire protection, occupational safety, and other assistance. The Dispatcher answers and prioritizes incoming calls, documents call details in the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system, and dispatches appropriate personnel clearly and promptly. Dispatchers work at Christiana Hospital on scheduled 10–12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and may be assigned on-call duties.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years of prior dispatching or related public safety job experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Obtain approval for DELJIS access through the State of Delaware, maintain certification, and follow its guidelines.
Complete the Basic Telecommunicator course within six months of hire.
Complete ICS 100, 200, and 700 within six months of hire.
Take an Active Shooter class within one year of hire.
Work assigned day, evening, midnight, or holiday shifts as designated by the schedule.
Be available for on-call work as scheduled.

Responsibilities

Answer incoming calls and prioritize them by importance.
Document call information in CAD and dispatch appropriate personnel to incidents.
Provide information to officers for report-writing purposes; entries are time-stamped.
Monitor assigned radio channels and respond appropriately using ChristianaCare's adopted Delaware 10 code and the phonetic alphabet.
Multitask across multiple systems and maintain control of the assigned position.
Monitor fire, burglar, infant, and other alarms, as well as card-access systems.
Maintain current DELJIS and CJIS logins and use those systems to provide officers with relevant information about people or vehicles involved in incidents.
