About The Position

Firefly Aerospace is seeking a Public Relations Manager to join its marketing and communications team. Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, this role manages media relations and helps communicate Firefly’s story to aerospace, defense, technology, and financial audiences. The position requires experience with publicly traded company rules and regulations, strong storytelling and writing skills, established media relationships, and the ability to translate technical information into clear messages for multiple audiences. The successful candidate is collaborative, proactive, organized, detail-oriented, and able to work with urgency in a fast-paced environment where news may break at any time. The role includes managing press releases and media inquiries, developing proactive media opportunities and corporate messaging, supporting company announcements and spokesperson engagements, and reporting on media performance. It also supports communications operations for launches, lunar landings, and spacecraft missions. The position may require travel up to 30% of the time.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or equivalent work or educational experience.
5–10 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or corporate communications, either in-house or at an agency.
Experience at a publicly traded company.
Experience with quarterly earnings and investor relations.
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, including proficiency in AP style.
Proven track record of securing earned media coverage in top-tier and trade publications.
Experience preparing executives and spokespeople for media interviews and speaking engagements.
Experience with media monitoring and database platforms such as Cision, Meltwater, or Muck Rack.
Experience with crisis communications.
Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or time-critical information.
Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations under U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including ITAR.

Responsibilities

Manage development of press releases for program milestones, contract awards, partnerships, and company updates.
Manage media inquiries, including triaging requests, coordinating responses with subject matter experts, and preparing spokespeople for interviews.
Build and maintain relationships with top-tier aerospace, defense, technology, and financial media.
Identify proactive media opportunities to amplify Firefly’s vision and technology roadmap.
Support development of corporate messaging to ensure clear and consistent communication across external channels.
Work with company stakeholders to identify, capture, and amplify program milestones across Firefly’s launch, lunar, and in-space product lines.
Work with the creative team to develop graphics and marketing assets for news announcements.
Support external speaking engagements by preparing talking points, briefing materials, and presentation content for spokespeople.
Manage Firefly’s award tracker and support development of award nominations.
Report on media metrics, including coverage volume, competitive share of voice, and message pull-through, and provide insights and recommendations.
Distribute the weekly Firefly news roundup company-wide.
Support communications operations for launches, lunar landings, and spacecraft missions.
