The Public Programs Coordinator supports The Museum of Flight’s mission by coordinating a diverse calendar of public events from conception through completion. The position helps deliver engaging programs that appeal to diverse audiences, add value to Museum membership, visitation, programs, and exhibits, and support the Museum’s role as a cultural and educational resource through aviation and aerospace storytelling. Programs may include lectures, presentations, panel discussions, forums and symposia, film series, book signings, fly-ins, and musical or dramatic performances. Working as directed by the Public Programs Manager, the Coordinator serves as a service-focused liaison before and during client experiences and communicates with Museum departments and other stakeholders. This full-time role is suited to someone with public program planning experience, strong organization and communication skills, and event-planning experience. The position requires working effectively with presenters, audiences, colleagues, staff, volunteers, and vendors. The schedule is set by the manager and may include weekends, holidays, and evenings based on Museum event needs. On-site attendance is essential for most duties. The role is based in an office environment, with movement through Museum campus spaces and occasional outdoor work in variable weather. Little to no travel is expected. The Museum offers full-time employees medical, dental, and vision coverage; flexible spending accounts; a 403(b) retirement plan with a 5% match after one year of service; an Employee Assistance Program; company-paid life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment coverage, and long-term disability. Paid time off includes two weeks of accrued sick leave and two weeks of vacation (80 hours each) per year, 10 paid holidays, and two floating holidays. The pay range is $22.15 to $30.00, depending on experience.
