About The Position

Girls Inc. seeks a Spring 2027 Public Policy Intern to support its Public Policy Office. Girls Inc. advances girls’ opportunities through direct service and advocacy, working with schools and communities to provide mentoring, safe spaces, and evidence-based programming, while also pursuing legislation and policies that benefit girls. Its Public Policy Office advances this work and helps affiliates and girls engage in advocacy at the federal, state, and local levels. The intern will support research, policy writing, event preparation, grassroots engagement, and communications. Since the Washington, D.C. team is small, the intern will have opportunities to observe and participate in substantive work implementing Girls Inc.’s public policy priorities. This is a part-time internship of 15 hours per week, spread over 2–4 days, on a hybrid schedule. The intern must be based in the D.C. area and able to attend the office on at least part of one of the team’s two standing in-person days each week. A $750 stipend is provided. Applications require a cover letter, resume, and a writing sample of no more than 1–2 pages, ideally related to policy or advocacy. The deadline is 11:59 p.m. on December 2, 2026.
