About The Position

E2 Consulting Engineers, LP (E2) is a professional services firm established in 1988 that provides engineering, infrastructure support, pipeline, environmental, and information technology services. The Public Outreach Specialist serves as the public communications contact for construction projects, providing information, outreach, updates, notifications, and communications to community stakeholders. The role supports accurate, timely, and consistent communication with project stakeholders, community members, businesses, and the public throughout project planning, design, and construction. The position supports communications and stakeholder engagement plans, prepares and distributes project materials and notifications, coordinates meetings and outreach events, and assists with social media, website content, records, and reporting. The role requires onsite presence at LAX offices and project locations, occasional field visits, and attendance at community meetings and public events. Travel is 25%, and local candidates only are requested. The work takes place in a professional office and airport environment, including outdoor conditions.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Public Administration, Planning, Political Science, or a related field.
Ability to interact professionally with community members, businesses, agencies, elected officials, and project stakeholders.
Experience in public outreach, public relations, communications, community engagement, or a related field.
Ability to maintain electronic records, contact databases, and project communication logs.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
Position requires onsite presence at LAX offices and project locations.
Occasional field visits and attendance at community meetings and public events are required.
May be required to work evenings, weekends, or extended hours to support outreach events and project milestones.

Nice To Haves

Experience supporting public infrastructure, transportation, aviation, construction, or government projects preferred.
Experience with website content management systems, including Drupal or similar platforms.
Familiarity with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
Familiarity with email marketing platforms such as Benchmark or similar systems.
Knowledge of social media platforms and content management tools.
Construction project experience preferred.
Relevant certifications in communications, public engagement, marketing, or project management are desirable.

Responsibilities

Assist with developing PowerPoint presentations, fact sheets, FAQs, and informational materials.
Assist with implementing project stakeholder engagement and communications plans.
Assist in preparing and distributing traffic advisories, construction notices, project updates, and community notifications.
Assist with social media content preparation, scheduling, graphics coordination, and monitoring.
Monitor project activities and community concerns and provide updates to the Public Information Specialist II.
Support media event preparation, including attendee coordination, logistics, and material distribution.
Support website updates, document uploads, and content management activities.
Coordinate distribution of project information to internal project teams and external stakeholders.
Support contractor and consultant teams in implementing approved project communication protocols.
Coordinate meeting schedules, agendas, sign-in sheets, and meeting summaries.
Assist with field outreach activities at project sites, meetings, and community events.
Coordinate logistics for public outreach events, open houses, workshops, community meetings, and stakeholder briefings.
Draft routine correspondence, meeting notices, stakeholder updates, and outreach materials.
Assist in preparing reports documenting outreach efforts, stakeholder engagement activities, and communication metrics.
Help track and address public inquiries, comments, complaints, and requests for information, escalating issues as appropriate.
Maintain communication records, outreach activity logs, stakeholder engagement databases, stakeholder contact databases, and distribution lists.
