About The Position

This Public Health Program Associate 1 position with the Pennsylvania Insurance Department’s Bureau of Managed Care offers the chance to begin a meaningful, professional career supporting better health outcomes for families across the state. This role will provide on-the-job training to learn how state agencies collaborate regarding insurer and managed care reporting, complaints, grievances, enforcement, and application reviews. The role supports the Bureau by helping review applications, organize materials, and assist in carrying out important oversight activities, providing structured learning and hands-on experience in health insurance regulation.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in health, social or behavioral sciences, statistics, or a related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Review applications for completeness and accuracy based on laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Assist in the development of policy materials, program proposals, and related documents.
  • Monitor incoming questions to identify trends that may require additional guidance or support.
  • Learn how to prepare, organize, and support consumer appeal case reviews.
  • Become familiar with data collection processes to help prepare reports and analyses.
  • Support staff in activities related to compliance with state and federal requirements.
