About The Position

The Department of Health's Division of Nutrition and Physical Activity is seeking a motivated Public Health Program Administrator to join their team. This role will serve as the lead for Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support initiatives on a statewide level, funded by a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention grant. This position supports the Division’s mission to promote healthy lifestyles, prevent injury and disease, and assure the safe delivery of quality health care for all people in the Commonwealth. This is an opportunity to showcase collaboration and program management skills in statewide efforts supporting healthier living.

Requirements

  • One year as a Public Health Program Associate 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • A bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience in the development, analysis, or monitoring of programs, grants, or contracts in health, human services, social or behavioral services, health care services, or health insurance; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of goals and objectives for diabetes self-management and support strategies and initiatives.
  • Facilitate meetings and prepare and conduct presentations.
  • Provide direction in the development and implementation of data collection, surveillance, and intervention activities.
  • Provide assistance on quality improvement in health systems using electronic health records.
  • Ensure program goals and policies are being met by using status calls, monitoring reports, site visits, and other relevant monitoring and evaluation tools.
  • Analyze public health programs, evidence-based interventions, and the improvement of health outcomes for people with diabetes using qualitative and quantitative data in collaboration with an evaluation partner.
  • Create contracts, grants, work statements, program narratives, program budgets, budget projections, and spending plans.
  • Collaborate with national, state, and local organizations to establish policies and programs to improve the health of people with diabetes.
