About The Position

The PT Program Advisor provides essential advising, registration assistance, and guidance on institutional requirements to current students. This role also involves career advising to help students select career pathways, planning and implementing retention and completion activities, and referring students to various institutional resources such as counseling, tutoring, and career services. The advisor must stay informed about institutional changes, including new programs, course updates, important dates, costs, and university-wide initiatives and policies. Additional duties include assisting with the graduation application process and commencement activities, and serving as a liaison to foster relationships with other advisors, offices, and departments.

Requirements

  • Maintain processes and systems that improve the quality of customer support services.
  • Demonstrate working functional knowledge and use of Banner and Microsoft Office.
  • Must possess outstanding communication, critical thinking, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be able to work independently and problem solve.
  • Demonstrate the desire to learn new software requirements to support office functions & efficiency.
  • Adapt to learning new tasks & skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university required.
  • Possess personal computer literacy and good organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience / training in one or more of the following areas: education, teaching, academic advising, recruiting, sales, customer service, marketing, or public relations – preferably at Community College level.
  • Banner experience preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provides advising, registration assistance, and assistance in accessing and navigating institutional requirements to current students.
  • Provides career advising to assist students in choosing a career pathway.
  • Plan and implement retention and completion activities.
  • Inform and referring students to other institutional resources as needed (counseling, tutoring, career services, etc.)
  • Perform related duties as required or deemed necessary to meet program advising goals.
  • Demonstrate continued knowledge of institutional changes including new programs, course changes, important dates, costs, and updates in university-wide initiatives and polices.
  • Assist with graduation application process and commencement activities.
  • Serve as a liaison and foster intentional relationships with other advisors, offices, and departments.
