About The Position

Goodwill Industries of New Mexico is seeking a part-time Program Accountant to join their expanding nonprofit organization. This nonexempt part-time position offers a balanced 20-hour work week and is responsible for managing fiscal compliance for assigned grants and/or programs. The role involves performing complete reconciliation and billing of grant and program expenditures, conducting financial analysis, and generating required reporting. The Program Accountant will also handle daily/weekly/monthly grant-related financial activities, ad hoc reporting, and other duties as requested by senior leadership.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration and/or related equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in accounting activity
  • Prior experience performing financial analysis and reporting of grant expenditures preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manages fiscal compliance for all assigned grants and/or programs.
  • Performs complete reconciliation and billing of grant and program expenditures.
  • Conducts financial analysis of grant and program expenditures.
  • Generates required reporting of grant and program activities, including budget modifications and spending plans.
  • Handles daily/weekly/monthly grant-related financial activities and responsibilities.
  • Performs ad hoc reporting, analysis, and other duties as requested.
  • Ensures grant/funding fiscal program specific compliance.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely monthly billing of all assigned programs.
  • Ensures time keeping records are coded and recorded accurately.
  • Financial analysis and reporting of assigned program activities.
  • Responsible for program budget modification and spending plans as applicable.
  • Responsible for the accurate development of new program budgets and fiscal components for new programs.
  • Perform ongoing reconciliation of grant expenditures between general ledger details for programs to billings rendered for each grant.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for tracking and reconciliation of grant activities.
  • Assures that both organization policies and financial grant requirements are followed with respect to administration of the grants.
  • Monitor budget to actual performance of grants and discuss variances with the Chief Services Officer and Service Director, as applicable.
  • Prepare documents as requested by external auditors in connection with the annual audit.
  • Prepare documents as requested by funding sources in connection with program annual audits.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Implement CARF standards into all programs and follow professional ethics as set forth in the Code of Conduct/Business Ethics policy.
  • Knowledge of organizational practices, policies and procedures and compliance with same.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist in special projects and perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
