The Program Assistant supports the Program Director and TRIO team in delivering high-impact services that strengthen students’ academic skills, increase retention, and improve graduation outcomes. This role blends program coordination, student engagement, data management, and event planning to ensure all grant objectives are met. You will work closely with administrators, instructors, campus partners, families, and community organizations to create a supportive, motivating environment that prepares students to earn their associates degree and for successful transfer to a 4-year institution.

  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups from diverse academic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • High level of organization, discretion, and sound decision-making.
  • Proficient in spreadsheets, databases, and digital communication tools; able to analyze data and maintain accurate records.
  • Capable of managing multiple assignments and bringing projects to completion.
  • Ability to support program visibility through advertising and social media engagement.
  • Associate’s Degree.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of administrative, office management, or student support experience, ideally in higher education.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Applies essential math skills—including fractions, decimals, percentages, and ratios—to complete tasks and interpret basic data visualizations.
  • Applies sound judgment to carry out detailed instructions and resolve straightforward issues independently.
  • Utilizes Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and CRM systems with a high degree of proficiency to streamline workflows and maintain organized, accurate records.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, recruit, and enroll eligible participants for SSS.
  • Oversee tutoring initiatives and structured academic activities that strengthen student performance.
  • Plan and execute college visits, cultural and career exposure trips, workshops for students and families.
  • Maintain project databases; generate daily, weekly, and monthly demographic and contact reports; assist with internal and external reporting, including the Department of Education APR.
  • Support implementation, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of all program activities and services.
  • Contribute to refining program goals, activities, and policies based on student needs and funding requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, families, and community partners to enhance student support.
