About The Position
This position is for a Part-Time Professor teaching ESL 160 S670, part of the uOttawa English Experience Program, for the Spring-Summer 2026 semester. The course is an integrated four-skills (listening, reading, speaking, writing) class that uses a task-based teaching approach. The emphasis is on acquiring language skills and intercultural competence to complete real-world communicative tasks. Grammar, vocabulary, socio-pragmatic skills, IT resources, and learning strategies are highlighted in a student-centered and interactive environment with a focus on formative evaluation. The program runs from August 4 to August 21, 2026, with classes held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
Requirements
- Master's degree in second language teaching, TESL or related discipline.
- Two years of experience teaching ESL at the college/university level.
- Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent ESL course.
- Experience with team-teaching.
- TESL Certification or equivalent.
- Ability to teach in English.
- Must be able to teach on the University of Ottawa campus.
