About The Position

The uOttawa English Experience Program is an integrated four-skills (listening, reading, speaking, writing) course utilizing a task-based teaching approach. The emphasis is on the acquisition of language skills and intercultural competence to complete communicative real-world tasks. Grammar and vocabulary in use, socio-pragmatic skills, IT resources, and learning strategies are highlighted. The approach is student-centered and interactive, with an emphasis on formative evaluation. This course is offered exclusively on the University of Ottawa campus and requires in-person instruction.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in second language teaching, TESL or related discipline
  • Two years of experience teaching ESL at the college/university level
  • Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent ESL course
  • Experience with team-teaching
  • TESL Certification or equivalent
  • Ability to complete all mandatory legislated training

  • An acceptable level of education/experience could be viewed as being equiv. to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
