About The Position

This position is for a Part-Time Professor teaching ESL 140: Academic Bridging in English for the Fall 2026 semester at the Main Campus. The course focuses on a broad range of extended authentic written and oral passages with an emphasis on critical listening and reading. Speaking and writing components focus on fluent and accurate oral production, organization and synthesis of information from various sources, and expansion of formal writing skills to include research reports and expository essays. The course is offered exclusively on the University of Ottawa campus and requires in-person instruction. Professors teaching the same section mutually agree upon teaching schedules. In circumstances of limited sections on offer and/or conflicting schedules among professors, the unit reserves the right to select professor teaching days for a given section.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in second language teaching, TESL or related discipline.
  • Two years of experience teaching ESL at the college/university level.
  • Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent ESL course.
  • Experience with team-teaching.
  • TESL Certification or equivalent.
  • Ability to complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
