About The Position

This posting is for a Part-Time Professor position for the Fall 2026 semester, teaching ESL 130 F100 (Academic Enhancement in English) at the Main Campus. The course focuses on refining reading and listening skills, improving critical thinking, and developing self-correction strategies in speaking and writing through activities like debates, oral presentations, summaries, and academic essays. The term runs from September 9 to December 11, 2026. The schedule is Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. This position is limited to Part-Time Language Instructors (OLBI). The expected enrollment is 25 students, with 0 credits and 79.5 work hours. The remuneration is based on union affiliation (APTPUO). This course requires in-person instruction on the University of Ottawa campus. Teaching schedules for professors teaching the same section are mutually agreed upon, but the unit reserves the right to select teaching days in cases of limited sections or conflicting schedules.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in second language teaching, TESL or related discipline.
  • Two years of experience teaching ESL at the college/university level.
  • Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent ESL course.
  • Experience with team-teaching.
  • TESL Certification or equivalent.
  • An acceptable level of education/experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
  • Successfully complete all mandatory legislated training.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent ESL course.
  • Experience with team-teaching.
