As a PT Outbound Freight Handler, you will load and unload freight onto and off of equipment, as well as assist in the recouping of damaged freight. This is a PART TIME OUTBOUND FREIGHT HANDLER position on the SECOND SHIFT. Responsibilities include preparing, sweeping, inspecting, and cleaning trailer(s) before loading freight. You will use safe lifting techniques and proper freight handling equipment to load and unload freight, which may include forklifts, hand trucks, drum trucks, pallet jacks, and rollers. The role also involves weighing and dimensioning shipments for proper classification and rating, planning cube utilization and weight distribution, and counting and inspecting freight condition, documenting any shortages or damage. You will review freight bills for special instructions, check manifests for exceptions and verify labels and destination codes against freight bills. For hazardous materials, you will verify product descriptions, check for discrepancies, and ensure proper placarding. Finally, you will properly block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
