As a PT Outbound Freight Handler, you will load and unload freight onto and off of equipment, as well as assist in the recouping of damaged freight. This is a PART TIME FREIGHT HANDLER position on the SECOND SHIFT. Responsibilities include preparing, sweeping, inspecting, and cleaning trailers before loading freight. You will use safe lifting techniques and proper freight handling equipment to load and unload freight, which may include forklifts, hand trucks, drum trucks, pallet jacks, and rollers. The role also involves weighing and dimensioning shipments for proper classification and safe handling, planning cube utilization and weight distribution, and counting and inspecting freight condition, documenting any shortages or damage. You will review freight bills and manifests for special instructions, exceptions, and destination codes, and verify hazardous material information and placarding when applicable. Additionally, you will properly block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
