About The Position

CHEO is a global leader in pediatric health, serving over 500,000 children and youth annually. The Metabolic Disorders team works with children, youth, and adults with complex metabolic disorders, providing cognitive, behavioral, and social-emotional assessments, diagnostic consultations, and interventions. The Psychologist will be part of an interdisciplinary health care team, functioning to provide comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational assessments, brief psychological assessments to determine treatment efficacy, mental health consultation and treatment services, and liaison with other team members. The role also involves offering learning opportunities to students in training.

Requirements

  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
  • PhD in Clinical Psychology from an APA or CPA accredited Clinical Psychology program (Essential)
  • Registration or eligibility for registration as a Psychologist in Ontario (Essential)
  • Designated practice as a Psychologist in Clinical Psychology with children and adolescents (Essential)
  • Experience in a paediatric health-care setting (Essential)
  • Experience providing services to children and youth with complex medical and mental health conditions (Essential)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with other health professionals (Essential)
  • Flexibility in work hours (evening and weekend work may be required) (Essential)
  • Access to a vehicle and valid driver's license (Essential)
  • Ability to work late afternoons and evenings (Essential)

Nice To Haves

  • Training and experience in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance-Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) (Preferred)
  • Supervision experience (Preferred)
  • Bilingualism (Fluency in both French and English) (Preferred)
  • Experience with eating disorders (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational assessments, with a focus on diagnostic formulation, diagnosis, and delineating the interplay between health, cognitive, and mental health issues.
  • Provide brief psychological assessments to determine the efficacy of new treatment regimes.
  • Mental health consultation and treatment services for children, youth and adults with metabolic disorders.
  • Liaison with other members of the Metabolics Disorders team with regard to assessment findings and recommendations, and their implications for the management of the child/youth/adult.
  • Offer learning opportunities to other student professionals in training.
