About The Position

River Edge is currently seeking a part-time Psychiatrist for the Baldwin Outpatient Services location. The Psychiatrist will be available to provide psychiatric assessments, diagnostic impressions, medication management/follow-up, and emergency crisis response. River Edge has introduced collaborative Integrated Medicine with primary physicians. The role may require supervision of Advanced Nurse Practitioners in accordance with protocols.

Requirements

  • Valid MD License granted by the Georgia composite state board of medical examiners.
  • Certification in one of the following specialties: General Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, or a related discipline.
  • Specialty in Psychiatric Medicine.
  • Must pass a satisfactory background clearance and pre-employment drug test.
  • Provide 2 Professional references (Former employers only, no family members).
  • Fully Covid-19 vaccinated.
  • Knowledge and experience with the chronically mentally ill population.
  • Strong clinical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain organized.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic assessments.
  • Provide psychiatric care, including admission evaluations, follow-ups, and urgent and emergent consultations to individuals with mental health needs.
  • Supervise and collaborate with Advanced Nurses, Physician Assistants, and other healthcare providers.
  • Provide patient education, specifically around issues related to medications and treatment adherence, and aftercare services.
  • Document all activities in the electronic medical record in a timely, concise, and clear manner.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications in accordance with pharmaceutical guidelines and standards of practice.
  • Monitor the effects of any medication and adjust treatment where necessary.
  • Evaluate practice in relation to professional standards, statutes, regulations, departmental policies, and standards of care.
  • Provide ongoing clinical and administrative supervision, and performance evaluations of assigned staff.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and pharmacy for patient care.
  • Maintain concurrent documentation and completion of service orders daily.
