About The Position

River Edge is seeking a part-time Psychiatrist for the Baldwin Outpatient Services location in Milledgeville, Georgia. This role involves providing psychiatric assessments, diagnostic impressions, medication management, and emergency crisis response. The Psychiatrist will work under the supervision of the Clinical Director and may supervise Advanced Nurse Practitioners. The position also includes collaboration with primary physicians in an Integrated Medicine setting.

Requirements

  • Valid MD License granted by the Georgia composite state board of medical examiners.
  • Certification in General Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, or a related discipline.
  • Specialty in Psychiatric Medicine.
  • Satisfactory background clearance.
  • Pre-employment drug test.
  • Provide 2 Professional references (Former employers only).
  • Fully Covid-19 vaccinated.
  • Knowledge and experience with the chronically mentally ill population.
  • Strong clinical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain organized.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic assessments.
  • Provide psychiatric care, including admission evaluations, follow-ups, and urgent and emergent consultations to individuals with mental health needs.
  • Supervise and collaborate with Advanced Nurses, Physician Assistants, and other healthcare providers.
  • Provide patient education regarding medications, treatment adherence, and aftercare services.
  • Document all activities in the electronic medical record in a timely, concise, and clear manner.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications in accordance with pharmaceutical guidelines and standards of practice.
  • Monitor the effects of medication and adjust treatment as necessary.
  • Evaluate practice in relation to professional standards, statutes, regulations, departmental policies, and standards of care.
  • Provide ongoing clinical and administrative supervision and performance evaluations of assigned staff.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and pharmacy for patient care.
  • Maintain concurrent documentation and completion of service orders daily.
