About The Position
A locum opportunity is available for a Psychiatrist in a hospital-based psychiatric emergency room at the Psychiatric Intervention Program in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The role involves evaluating adult and pediatric psychiatric patients in crisis as part of a medical team. It has an ongoing overnight schedule and includes educating and supervising psychiatry residents during applicable shifts.
Requirements
- Board certified or truly board eligible in Psychiatry.
- American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) certification.
- Active New Jersey medical license or willingness to obtain one.
- Extensive experience in psychiatric emergency evaluations.
- Experience in adult and pediatric psychiatry.
- Ability and interest in teaching and supervising psychiatry residents.
- Current BLS certification.
- Active DEA registration.
- CSR/CDS as required by state regulations.

- Minimal malpractice settlements are preferred; exceptions are reviewed case by case.
Responsibilities
- Perform psychiatric emergency evaluations for adult and pediatric patients.
- Determine appropriate patient disposition and manage medications.
- Supervise and teach psychiatry residents during applicable shifts.
- Conduct psychiatric admissions, discharges, and observation determinations.
- Maintain thorough documentation in the Oracle / Cerner FirstNet EMR.
- Collaborate with other providers to deliver emergency care.
