Requirements
- Must be a graduate of medical school and have completed an appropriate psychiatric residency.
- Must be licensed to practice in the state of Wisconsin.
- Current DEA number.
Responsibilities
- Provide onsite psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of inmates referred by medical and clinical services staff.
- Provide written summaries of history, diagnosis, and treatment course.
- Provide psychiatric services for inpatients, including assessment, diagnosis, staffing, treatment planning, and regular review of assigned inmates.
- Provide psychiatric services for inmates referred to the Healthcare Unit for regular psychiatric/behavioral health follow-up.
- Provide psychiatric services for inmates needing transfer to Behavioral Health facilities, including workup and court hearing testimony.
- Act as regular Psychiatrist and participate in treatment programming and planning for the Behavioral Health Unit (if applicable), including regular staffing and contact with staff, discussion of problem cases, follow-up and monitoring of medication, and general psychiatric input.
- Provide medication management to all admitted inmates.
- Provide individual and/or group therapy as appropriate.
- Approve, sign, and monitor the implementation and efficiency of treatment plans.
- Approve all admissions and discharges into the Behavioral Health Unit, if applicable.
- Provide in-service education to site staff as needed.
- Attend training and meetings as required.
