About The Position

We are seeking an Emergency Psychiatrist to join the Psychiatric Assessment Unit at the Vancouver General Hospital. As an Emergency Psychiatrist, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment and care to patients presenting with acute mental health crises in our busy emergency department. Responsibilities include conducting timely psychiatric assessments and formulation of treatment plans for patients in crisis, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including emergency physicians, nurses, social workers, and psychiatric consultants to ensure coordinated care, provision of crisis intervention and stabilization services to patients experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms, and participation in teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows.

Requirements

  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)- Mandatory
  • Emergency Experience- Mandatory
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)- Mandatory
  • Specialized experience in providing services to psychiatric patients in the ED setting is required.

Responsibilities
