About The Position

The Psychiatrist (MD) provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, treatment, and medication management for patients in a multi-specialty medical practice. The role collaborates with physicians, behavioral health professionals, and other clinical staff to develop individualized treatment plans and promote patients’ mental health and well-being. The position involves direct patient care in an outpatient medical office setting, including psychiatric consultations, medication management, crisis assessment and intervention, patient and family education, and coordination with the healthcare team. The psychiatrist maintains confidential patient records and complies with HIPAA, professional standards, and applicable state and federal requirements.

Requirements

Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an accredited medical school.
Completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency Program.
Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of New Jersey.
Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Psychiatry.
Current DEA registration and applicable New Jersey controlled dangerous substance registration, as required for prescribing duties.
Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology, and evidence-based treatment approaches.
Excellent communication, clinical judgment, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard computer applications.
Strong psychiatric assessment and diagnostic abilities.
Effective clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Compassionate, professional, and patient-centered approach to care.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments.
Diagnose and treat psychiatric, emotional, and behavioral health conditions.
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized psychiatric treatment plans.
Prescribe, manage, and adjust psychiatric medications in accordance with clinical guidelines and applicable regulations.
Monitor patient progress, medication effectiveness, and potential side effects.
Provide psychiatric consultations and recommendations to primary care providers and other healthcare professionals.
Collaborate with licensed social workers, therapists, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
Provide crisis assessment and intervention, including appropriate referrals when necessary.
Educate patients and families about psychiatric diagnoses, treatment options, and medication management.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, professional standards, and applicable state and federal requirements.
Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and clinical case discussions as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of medical licensure and professional responsibilities.
