About The Position

Armor Health is hiring a part-time Psychiatrist to join its team at Richland Prison in Columbia, South Carolina. The Psychiatrist provides psychiatric care to the facility’s patient population, including assessment, treatment planning, medication-related oversight, case consultation, documentation, and court-required evaluations. The role also includes supervising and managing daily operations related to prescribing psychotropic medications, communicating medical orders to nursing staff, and participating in staff training and committees as appropriate.

Requirements

• Be licensed in the state as an M.D. or D.O. with specialty training in psychiatry.
• Be board certified or board eligible.
• Have one year of clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage daily operations related to prescribing psychotropic medications to the mentally ill population.
• Serve on committees as appropriate and conduct staff in-service training.
• Assess patients’ mental status and medical needs; direct the formulation of treatment plans based on diagnosis; monitor progress and modify plans as indicated.
• Communicate medical orders to nursing staff.
• Participate in case disposition and follow-up planning; provide medical case supervision and consultation.
• Maintain records and document services delivered.
• Certify patients for inpatient hospital or acute-care psychiatric facility placement as appropriate.
• Provide evaluations as required by the courts.
