About The Position

The Psychiatrist provides comprehensive mental health care to patients in a correctional setting. Duties include psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management for individuals with mental health disorders. The role collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to provide integrated, evidence-based care, maintains accurate medical records, ensures compliance with regulatory standards, and supports the facility’s mental health program. The position is onsite at Dauphin County Prison in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, for 18 hours per week.

Requirements

Current, valid, and unrestricted state license.
Completion of an accredited graduate or professional program, such as medical school.
Current, valid DEA registration, if applicable.
Active CPR/BLS certificate meeting American Heart Association or American Red Cross guidelines.
Minimum of 3–5 years of clinical practice.

Nice To Haves

Board certification in a relevant specialty, if applicable.
At least 1–2 years of experience in correctional healthcare or with an underserved population.
Experience diagnosing, treatment planning, and providing healthcare in a managed care or correctional facility setting.
