About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in an inpatient setting. The role involves managing adult patients with an average of 10-12 patients per day and a census of 65-80. There are no ED evaluations required. The position is Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with no weekends or call required. The facility uses EPIC for EMR, and credentialing typically takes 30 days.

Requirements

Active Massachusetts licensure
Board certification
AHA BLS certification
Minimum 1-year Psychiatric experience or equivalent
Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Massachusetts
National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP])
Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Massachusetts
National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Nice To Haves

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics)
Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
Order and interpret diagnostic tests
Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
