• Requires current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct nursing and psychiatric care to residents and direction to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN);
• Assesses health care needs of residents, initiates and directs implementation of any nursing treatment plans to meet established goals for each resident;
• Integrates nursing goals into interprofessional practice (IPP);
• Monitors health and safety status of residents on assigned shift;
• Assist in emergencies (such as first aide, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), psychotropic emergencies, etc.)
• Records and reports unusual behaviors and/or conditions to physicians, supervisor and other appropriate personnel;
• Implements physician’s order and assists with medical procedures as necessary;
• Ensures medication and treatment are administered according to policy, including actual medication administration;
• Provides professional judgment and intervention as needed;
• Monitor closely residents requiring acute care as necessary;
• Ensure proper maintenance and security of the night drug cupboard as appropriate.
• Assumes primary nursing responsibility for residents assigned including nursing treatment planning, verification and review of physician orders, chart audits, self-medication plans, human sexuality programs, medication administration, infection control, physical assessments and health care related scenario programs, as appropriate to assigned duties on assigned duty shift;
• Participates in related meetings as required by Supervisor;
• Responsible to communicate medical information to parents/guardians, when appropriate.
• Monitor health care charts on cottages to ensure proper follow-up and continuity of health care;
• Maintains records of all activities, as required;
• Submits reports to Supervisor including but not limited to: IPP input, chart audits, psychotropic medication reviews, self-medication inputs and physical assessments, performs related duties as required by supervisor.
