About The Position

This position is for a Psych Registered Nurse (RN) in the Labor Pool for the Psych ED. The role involves working under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Director, responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of total nursing care for assigned patients. The RN may work in various settings within the Emergency Services Complex and across Riverside Health System. Key responsibilities include utilizing communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to develop patient care plans that consider physiological, psychosocial, and cultural diversity. The RN is also responsible for supervising and delegating tasks to non-professional personnel to ensure optimal patient care. Competence in addressing age-related needs of specific patient populations served in Emergency Services units/departments is essential. The role operates under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive services in accordance with Riverside Health System's standards of excellence, facility goals, and strategic plans.

Requirements

Program Graduate, Nursing (Required)
Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) (Required)
CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire (Required)

Nice To Haves

Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Preferred)
1 year Nursing experience in a behavioral health setting (Preferred)
2 years Registered Nursing (Preferred)
ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 180 Days (Preferred)
Specialty certification in field (Preferred)

Responsibilities

Demonstrates ability to assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served in the Emergency Services units/departments.
Demonstrates a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to assure patients receive consistent, competent, and ethical care.
Focuses on quality outcomes of patient care when addressing customer’s needs to include current evidence-based practice and quality measures.
Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations and ability to modify education method to ensure patient/family comprehension.
Educates by assuming responsibility to individualize and coordinate patient education and discharge specific education that includes family/caregiver.
Evaluates for patient comprehension and documents.
Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
Ability to delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and ensure patient care needs are met.
Able to recognize and respond to emergency situations.
Evaluates own needs for support and uses identified systems to meet need.
