The Provincial Offences Prosecutor is responsible for delivering prosecution services under the Provincial Offences Act (Ontario) for the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, lower-tier municipalities, and partner municipalities. The Prosecutor conducts prosecutions and related proceedings under the Provincial Offences Act, exercises prosecutorial discretion independently and in the public interest, and ensures matters are conducted in accordance with applicable legislation, legal principles, procedural fairness, and professional standards. The incumbent is responsible for attending court, conducting early resolution meetings, reviewing evidence and disclosure materials, assessing legal and evidentiary issues, preparing matters for hearing, and communicating effectively with justice participants including defendants, agents, legal counsel, enforcement agencies, witnesses, judiciary, and court staff. The role requires sound judgment, professionalism, accountability, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced court environment while maintaining respectful and collaborative working relationships with supervisors, colleagues, stakeholders, and members of the public.
