About The Position

OCES is seeking a dedicated Protective Services Worker (PSW) for its Protective Services department. The role investigates and substantiates allegations of abuse and neglect involving older adults. OCES supports older adults and individuals with disabilities by providing information and coordinating services that promote healthy, safe living and help people remain active and engaged in their communities. The PSW promotes consumers’ independence and dignity by providing services in the most appropriate, least restrictive environment. The role has a 35-hour work week, some scheduling flexibility, and a standard Monday–Friday workweek. The work environment is hybrid and includes work from home, office work, and home visits. The position also provides emergency Protective Services department coverage outside business hours.

Requirements

At least two years of experience in the human services field; experience with older adults and/or crisis intervention is preferred.
Passion for helping others and a desire to make a difference.
Adaptability as consumer and program needs change.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field; current licensure if appropriate.
Bilingual ability.
Experience with the older adult population and/or crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

Promote the independent functioning of members and provide services in the most appropriate, least restrictive environment.
Investigate allegations of abuse and neglect and evaluate the older adult’s functional capacity, situation, and resources.
Develop and implement an appropriate protective services plan to alleviate risk and abuse.
Determine whether to petition the court for a Protective Order and refer situations involving serious abuse to the appropriate District Attorney.
Provide emergency Protective Services department coverage during non-business hours.
