Protective Services Strategy & Operations Lead

AnthropicSan Francisco, NY

About The Position

Anthropic's Global Safety, Intelligence, and Security (GSIS) team protects our people, facilities, and operations worldwide. The function spans intelligence, executive protection, investigations, travel and event security, security technology, security operations, environmental health and safety, and crisis management — and it's growing quickly as Anthropic's footprint, public profile, and threat surface expand. We're looking for a Protective Services Strategy & Operations Lead to architect, scale, and operationalize our Executive Protection (EP) program. Reporting to the Head of Protective Services, you will be the business and process architect supporting our close protection forces. While our security agents handle the tactical side of close protection, you will build and run the operational engines behind them — budget modeling, global travel logistics frameworks, high-end vendor networks, and cross-functional integration. This is a highly analytical, strategic enablement role. You will partner closely with Administrative Business Partners (ABPs), Global Travel, Legal, tax compliance, and GSIS leadership to build a protective layer around our executives that minimizes friction and preserves their productivity. The right person is equally comfortable building a complex multi-variable capacity model in a spreadsheet, orchestrating the operational choreography of an international executive trip across multiple high-risk jurisdictions, and translating relevant laws and guidelines into compliant practice. This role is for operators who take pride in the unglamorous work of keeping people safe and operations running.

Requirements

  • Experience blending management consulting, corporate strategy, or business operations with direct exposure to physical security operations, executive protection, or corporate risk intelligence
  • Experience building an operations program from scratch in a fast-paced, highly fluid environment
  • Advanced spreadsheet modeling (Excel / Google Sheets) for capacity, staffing, and budget planning
  • Strong judgment under pressure; able to make critical operational decisions with incomplete information
  • Clear written and verbal communication across audiences, including executive leadership
  • Low ego and high discretion; demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive personal, travel, and safety data with absolute confidentiality

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience at a high-growth technology company, frontier research organization, or similarly high-scrutiny environment
  • Stood up protective services or risk management programs in new offices or new countries
  • Background in corporate threat management, threat assessment teams (WPV), or military/government operations planning
  • Familiarity with corporate governance and tax treatment of executive protection — SEC perquisite disclosure (Summary Compensation Table) and IRS business-oriented security regulations
  • Interest in Anthropic's mission and the resilience and safety considerations that come with building frontier AI systems

Responsibilities

  • Define, structure, and scale the executive protection program into a proactive corporate function that grows with Anthropic
  • Translate threat intelligence assessments from the GSIS Intelligence team into concrete, data-backed operational capacity plans — staffing, physical assets, coverage windows
  • Establish and track KPIs and operational metrics for program readiness, response times, and fiscal health
  • Develop and maintain repeatable domestic and international travel operational frameworks, including secure-transport playbooks and post-mortems
  • Partner with the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) to design communication protocols and alert pipelines for protected individuals
  • Facilitate selection, acquisition, and maintenance of specialized equipment, vehicles, travel-security applications, and communications technology
  • Run sourcing, RFP processes, onboarding, and ongoing management of global third-party physical security, secure transport, and intelligence vendors
  • Own the protective services budget, including in-house vs. contract cost-benefit analyses and quarterly/annual planning reviews
  • Integrate protective operations into daily corporate workflows by partnering with ABPs, Corporate Travel, Legal, PR/Communications, and IT/InfoSec
  • Partner with legal counsel on compliance with state licensing laws, corporate insurance policies, and privacy mandates

Benefits

  • competitive compensation
  • benefits
  • optional equity donation matching
  • generous vacation
  • parental leave
  • flexible working hours
