Protective Services Lead

AnthropicWashington, DC
$305,000 - $375,000Hybrid

About The Position

Anthropic is seeking a senior personal security leader to serve as the organizational backbone of a fast-growing GSIS function. This role combines corporate security expertise with program management craft, focusing on building the policies, processes, systems, and metrics that enable the function to scale. The individual will drive time-critical, cross-functional projects and needs domain fluency to build trust with experienced security practitioners, program rigor to establish new capabilities, and pragmatism to deliver timely solutions. A bias towards clean, documented, and transferable work is essential, as much of what is built will be handed off to operational owners.

Requirements

  • Substantial program management experience in the corporate/physical security domain.
  • Experience running a personal security program or equivalent function within a security organization.
  • Experience building personal security programs or capabilities from scratch in a high-growth environment, including supporting documentation, playbooks, and training.
  • Working fluency across multiple GSIS domains (intelligence, executive protection, investigations, security technology, security operations, crisis management, travel and event security) to engage credibly with practitioners.
  • Experience developing policies, procedures, and audit-ready documentation that have withstood regulatory or customer scrutiny.
  • Clear writing skills with the ability to translate complex security concepts for both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
  • Comfort operating with ambiguity, minimal direction, and shifting priorities.
  • Interest in Anthropic’s mission and the unique security considerations of building frontier AI systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an AI-focused organization, frontier technology company, or similarly high-growth, high-scrutiny environment.
  • Direct operational experience in intelligence analysis, threat assessment, investigations, executive protection, or security operations center work.
  • Experience supporting an organization through external security audits, regulatory compliance examinations, or intensive customer/partner due diligence.
  • Experience managing global security programs and third-party security providers across multiple regions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the policy and procedure library across GSIS domains (intelligence, executive protection, investigations, travel and event security, security technology, security operations, and crisis management), ensuring completeness, currency, and alignment with company-wide frameworks.
  • Establish and own the GSIS metrics and reporting framework, covering operational health, open initiatives, emerging risks, and portfolio status, to provide leadership with reliable visibility without manual assembly.
  • Build net-new capabilities in response to emerging risks or strategic priorities, including the operating model, training, and vendor/partner framework for clean ownership transfer to an operational team.
  • Act as intake and triage for high-priority stakeholder requests requiring GSIS involvement, resolving directly or routing with clear context.
  • Build and maintain audit-ready documentation and control evidence for regulatory, customer, and partner diligence requests.
  • Serve as project lead for cross-functional GSIS initiatives, managing scope, timeline, stakeholder communication, and end-to-end delivery across Legal, IT, Facilities, People, Finance, and external vendors.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation
  • Optional equity donation matching
  • Generous vacation
  • Parental leave
  • Flexible working hours
  • Office space for collaboration
