About The Position

The Department of Family and Community Services, Office of Children's Services (OCS) is recruiting for full-time Protective Service Specialist 1/2 in Fairbanks, Alaska. The Protective Services Specialist in the licensing unit needs to be a skilled and motivated individual able to recruit, support, assess, investigate, and license individuals across the state of Alaska to provide critically important foster care for Alaska's children. They will actively recruit and support resource families to establish positive and nurturing home environments for the healthy development of children. They will also license and investigate Child Placement Agencies across the state. Requirements

  • Valid Alaska driver's license
  • Successful completion of a background investigation, including fingerprinting and a criminal records check.
  • Current automotive insurance must be in place prior to use of a personal vehicle while conducting work-related matters.
  • Child protective history check will be performed per AS 12.62.160 and/or 13 AAC 68.315 including a background and fingerprint check.
