About The Position
The primary purpose of this position is to assist in developing and implementing training for Alaskan law enforcement on crimes related to domestic violence, sexual assault, child sexual abuse, stalking, and sex trafficking. This role will also provide technical assistance to law enforcement and multidisciplinary team (MDT) partners statewide, and assist with the development of online training materials and courses. The position involves maintaining all training records, supporting special projects with administrative and record-keeping duties, and ensuring departmental policies and procedures are reviewed, updated, and adhered to. Additionally, the role will assist with the reimbursement of forensic exams for municipal agencies, procurement of equipment and training supplies, represent the department in various capacities, provide overall organizational support to the DVSA unit, and deliver basic level training based on expertise, which may include travel. The Division of Victim Assistance & Forensic Science is dedicated to upholding the rights of victims of crime and providing victim-centered support. Your work in this role directly supports statewide consistency, best-practice response, and long-term improvements in victim services and justice outcomes.
Requirements
- Knowledge of teaching, training, research, making presentations, lecturing, testing, and other instructional methods.
- Ability to understand and interpret written material, including technical material, rules, regulations, instructions, reports, charts, graphs, or tables, and apply what is learned to specific situations.
- Ability to use correct English grammar to organize and communicate ideas in words that are appropriate to listeners and situations, and use body language appropriately.

- Training or education in training and development, human resources, education, instructional design, business administration, social sciences, or a related field; AND/OR Experience in the training-subject and/or the agencies’ programs; human resources; teaching or facilitating learning; assisting with developing or revising training materials, assisting in assessing training needs, and/or assisting in evaluating training effectiveness.
- Required valid driver´s license.
- Incumbent must submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check.
- Applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.
- The successful candidate will be required to read, understand, and agree to via signature, an agreement of confidentiality concerning the work commonly encountered within the Department of Public Safety.
