About The Position

This role involves being a critical member of the team responsible for the selection and integration of aircraft engines, engine components, and fuel systems on unmanned air vehicles. The co-op will also design, fabricate, and test prototype components and control systems. Additionally, they will plan, instrument, and execute tests of aircraft propulsion systems, coordinate with engine vendors, develop strategic partnerships, and manage development projects. Support for critical hardware demonstrations with customers and CAD design for internal aerodynamic loft, surfaces, and structures are also key responsibilities. Travel to test sites may be required.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Returning to school at the end of the internship to continue academic studies for at least one quarter or semester.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities; U.S. clearance eligibility may be required depending on program.
  • Ability to complete an in-person 16 to 24-week internship in one of our offices in winter 2027.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of jet and piston engine fundamentals
  • Experience with use of engine cycle decks
  • Exposure to testing of engines or powertrain components
  • Experience designing mechanical parts and surface loft (CAD)
  • Understanding of manufacturing methods (machining, sheet metal, composites, 3D printing, injection molding, etc)
  • Experience in NX/Teamcenter
  • Hands-on experience with jet engine testing including test practices, instrumentation, and data processing
  • Knowledge and experience working with Engine Management Systems (EMS), OEM or motorsport
  • Experience procuring parts and working in a machine shop.
  • Working knowledge of machine safety and shop safety protocols
