About The Position

The Proposal Manager I at PowerSecure leads the development of complex, high-value proposals, RFI, RFP, and RFQ responses by following processes that enable PowerSecure to more efficiently serve the market and provide the business with the confidence of knowing that thorough reviews have been completed across the legal, compliance, corporate risk management, finance, engineering, manufacturing, product development, and other functions of the business in order to deliver industry leading solutions to our customers. The Proposal Manager I will be accountable to follow the sales processes at PowerSecure and make recommendations to improve these, while providing the highest level of quality and consistency in proposal submissions to address the ongoing proposal needs for the PowerSecure Sales Team. The Proposal Manager also supports the sales team by issuing company commercial documentation requested by the customers and maintaining the associated proposal team content library and data accuracy of the company’s customer relationship management tool. Success in this role will depend upon effective stakeholder management, and a proven ability to plan, produce, and deliver proposal resources inside a complex business environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business required
  • 1 year of experience in proposal management or energy industry related role.
  • Ability to prioritize in a technical selling environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk, compliance, and financial impact.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and communications skills, written and verbal.
  • Self-driven and passionate, collaborative, and influential.
  • Detail oriented and driven to follow requirements and processes for best-in-class customer experience and exceptional business management practices.
  • Ability to follow processes combining best practices gained from past work experience and developed at PowerSecure.
  • Ability to provide high quality work output and drive multiple workstreams forward under tight deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated success in creating, writing, and implementing proposal strategies that drive business growth and maximize profit margin preferred.
  • Experience in Salesforce opportunity and account management preferred.
  • Technical understanding of resiliency technologies (microgrids, renewable energy, energy efficiency, behind-the-meter generation) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of high-value, complex proposals, ensuring alignment with business strategy and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as an advisor to the commercial operations manager on proposal best practices and process optimization.
  • Collaborate with continuous improvement initiatives in proposal processes, proposal content library management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to legal, compliance, finance, manufacturing, estimating, HR, and project and product development engineering teams.
  • Facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing across departments to ensure proposal success.
  • Ensure all proposals meet rigorous standards for compliance, risk assessment, and business objectives.
  • Oversee the review and approval process for proposals, and contracts, coordinating input from subject matter experts.
  • Generate and present management reports on proposal activity, win/loss analysis, and process improvements.
  • Review Salesforce account and opportunity related activities and data entry to ensure accuracy.
  • Support business development initiatives and special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes.
