About The Position

The Proposal Engineer initially works with the design team to learn how to develop machine and equipment concepts and pricing. Mechanical aptitude is essential. Within two years, the role is expected to grow into independently reviewing and evaluating inquiries and developing comprehensive, competitive engineering proposals for commercial quotes. The position also champions internal process improvement by developing and maintaining automated workflows and data analytics tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automation Engineering.
• Ability to comprehend 2-D drawings and 3D models.
• Knowledge of mechanical design and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Strong math skills and understanding of mechanics.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of AutoCAD 2012 or higher.
• Knowledge of NX or similar 3D model software.
• Willingness and ability to learn and deploy process automation software.
• Experience with low-code/no-code automation platforms such as Power Automate or Power Apps.
• Experience with data visualization and analytics tools such as Power BI, DAX, or Power Query.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably SAP, and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to Senior Designers and Project Engineers.
• Generate AutoCAD and NX layouts.
• Compose and price proposals and maintain the pricing structure.
• Technically evaluate and organize customer scope, standards, and job order releases.
• Analyze requests for quotation (RFQs) and scopes of work (SOWs), including creating new customer quotes.
• Coordinate proposal files.
• Correspond with customers, including participating in proposal review meetings.
• Develop and maintain automated workflows and data analytics tools to improve internal processes.
