This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. Requirements

  • B.S. degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of experience designing complex structural and/or fluids systems within a safety critical environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in fluid analysis and piping design including process component selection and process fluid design architecture.
  • In depth knowledge of fluid system components (i.e. valves, regulators and pumps for cryogenics, propellants, and other fluids).
  • Knowledge of standard installation and fabrication methods of piping systems (pipe stock, fittings, connections, fasteners, welding, etc.) including ASME B31.3 and ASME BPVC codes.
  • Demonstrated leadership and/or mentorship of teams in a technical setting.
  • Organized self-starter, capable of breaking down complex problems into traceable tasks and concisely communicating project status.
  • Clear communicator with experience presenting concepts to broad discipline audiences.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ProEngineer/Creo, Windchill, and ProPiping
  • Experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Plant/P&ID
  • Experience with static and non-linear FEA analysis (ANSYS)
  • Competency with Bentley AutoPipe, CAESAR, and AFT Arrow/Fathom or equivalent software packages
  • Proven application of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance to machining drawings

Responsibilities

  • Own the preliminary design and cost estimation of high-pressure gas and cryogenic test systems.
  • Write formal memos summarizing trade studies and test stand architecture selection.
  • Coordinate with test article owners on refinement of project scope and requirements.
  • Lead Process Hazard Analysis activities for fluid systems (HAZOP).
  • Manage suppliers and coordinate cost, schedule, and technical design requirements.
  • Provide remote and on-the-ground support during fabrication, installation, and start up of new facilities or upgrades.
  • Mentor newer engineers and perform peer reviews.
