FLSA: Exempt DEFINITION Under general direction, plans, schedules, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of staff performing routine and complex market value appraisals of residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, recreational, and/or other real and personal properties for tax assessment purposes; participates in administrative and appraisal procedure development; and performs related duties as assigned. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Receives general direction from the Assistant Assessor or designee. Exercises direct supervision over professional, technical, and/or administrative staff. CLASS CHARACTERISTICS This is the full supervisory-level class in the property appraiser series that exercises independent judgement on diverse and specialized property appraisals with accountability and ongoing decision-making responsibilities associated with the work. Incumbents are responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, reviewing, and evaluating the work of assigned staff and for providing professional level support to the Assistant Assessor in a variety of areas. Performance of the work requires the use of independence, initiative, and discretion within established guidelines. This class is distinguished from the Assistant Assessor in that the latter is a management classification responsible for assisting in the overall management of all Assessor’s Office functions, programs, and activities.
